January 27, 2018 is the day for favici launch party. I was working as a stuff photographer for this event. It was a very busy day but I got some pictures that I really like and some cool stories to tell.
I arrived there about 1 pm. After the favici guys and I spending about 1 hour to setup everything, I start seeking a best spot to setup my lights. I decide to take the place next to the manikins mainly because I need a white wall and also close to the changing room. I thought people going to take photos after they try their yoga pants on, but it turned out only one person did that. Most photos I took were group photos.

I choose only use one light with a 60 inch umbrella mainly because I want some very soft and even light hitting on my subject. The result could be better if I use a reflection panel but it's kinda chaotic to use with so many people walking around. Since my working space was very limited, I had to use fuji 10-24mm ultra wide angle lens. Thanks to fuji's awesome lens building technology, it has very little distortion compare to my canon counterparts. Another benefit for using fuji camera is that the jpg color always look amazing. I barely edit these photos at all.
To maximize the result of the inverse square law, I found a sweet spot about 1 meter away from the light. I used some duct tapes marked the area. Since I was shooting with an ultra wide and my subject was so close to the light, I was taking photos at very close distance to my subject. I think it might be a bit to close for many people. So close it might be a bit intimidating. lol
For this group, they have some really interesting poses in their mind but since I was shooting too close to them they couldn't do it naturally. I had to direct them a little bit to achieve the best result.
During the shoot of the group down below, I encountered a very rare event. My flash could not fire when I was too close to the light. I couldn't figure out why it happened. Spend almost 5 minutes trying to fix it while these people were waiting to get their photo done. It was my most embarrassing moment in my career. Thank you for your patients.
If you like what you see and want to see more posts, please leave a thumbs up like this guy did. lol
BTW. If you took a photo at the event and didn't see it here, don't worry I didn't eat them. They will be posted at favici web page.
